Me, my sister who lives in Botswana, and our parents went to Cape Town to check out some wineries. We stayed in the town of Franzhoek, in the Stellenbosch region. They have much better land use and zoning there. The town is small and concentrated, the vineyards are spread out rather majestically, and the inhospitable mountains are kept entirely free of settlement. There was only one or two radio towers.

Sections of the mountains are actually a national preserve. Me and Elena saw large beetles, dead after presumably mating, lizards, vultures, chimpanzees acting like goofballs in the mountainous parking lots, and innumerable little foraging birds.

It reminds me of Mars.
