Plums or cherries, and huckleberries?

I was running through Reed canyon, on the north bank footpath, and tried some fruit. It seemed of a wild variety, as I couldn't tell at first whether the small red fruits hanging in clusters on a branch were apples, cherries, or plums. They tasted like plums, but they could just as well could have been cherries. I also saw something resembling a huckleberry, but with lots of seeds. I masticated it then spit it out. It was sweet and tasted good.
